I was inspired to paint these lilies at Babylonstoren, a luxury wine estate near Cape Town, South Africa. They placed a net over the pond to protect the koi fish from herons who would dive into the ponds and eat the koi. I love lilies on water as it creates such an atmosphere of tranquility and calm.
