I painted this African White Rhino from a game reserve in South Africa. Because poaching is such a problem we were not allowed to take cell phone images (I took this image on my Canon 5D. ) Cellphone images can be traced and locate a rhino for poachers. An attack can happen in minutes with a helicopter flying in, poachers saw off the horn and fly out leaving the animal bleeding. On this game reserve, all rhinos are watched by sight 24/7. This has dramatically reduced these dreadful incidents from happening. (39.4 x 39.4 x 1.5inch stretched canvas on wooden frame)
