The Story

Katja had fragile bones from over breeding and broke her front legs. She was taken in at Botlierskop Game Reserve in Mossel Bay, South Africa where their full time veterinary surgeon put pins in her front legs. It took several months to heal before she was re-introduced to the wild again. (rewilding) It was very important that she was able to hunt on her own once again. She did, and a year later we visited her to find that she had a litter of cubs. This was a painting of her during that visit. She was unafraid of us approaching her in spite of having cubs.
