On a safari in a protected wildlife game reserve in South Africa I found a baby Zebra in the grassland. It had a look of wonder and innocence that I wanted to capture in my painting. Zebra stripes are great to paint as they add such good structure in a large painting. Zebras are known to group together so the body stripes confuse predators and thus protect their young ones.
